This week was a little different than most. I made a trek up to Sudbury and Hanmer to check out Falcona Camp on Saturday and to visit my brother and his family in Azilda and then on Manitoulin Island. It was awesome to be on Lake Manitou for a few days and enjoy perfect weather.

Sunday, August 14th, 2022 – The Alexander cottage has to be at one of the most awesome spots on Lake Manitou. The are located in a sand bay with multiple islands that are easy to kayak or canoe to. Taken in the evening looking out across the dock as the sun sets.
Sunday, August 14th, 2022 – The road is almost impossible to find unless you know exactly where it is. Basically, the directions were to go to the middle of nowhere until you think you are lost, keep going further, and then turn left.
Monday, August 15th, 2022 – During the weekend we took the boat around the point into Green Bay (the north Bay on Lake Manitou) and looked at Red Lodge where my brother and I used to work as kids. It’s remarkably unchanged after 35 years.
Monday, August 15th, 2022 – My brother showing off his mastery of one-ski after our trip to Red Lodge.
Tuesday, August 16, 2022 – I took an evening walk near Bidwell Road and came across these sheep.
Wednesday, August 17th, 2022 – A family friend, Bob Morris, dropped by from our days in Kanata. Bob has one of the cooler summer jobs I’ve ever heard of. He’s working for the “Coordinating Committee on Great Lakes Basic Hydraulic and Hydrologic Data” – basically he’s helping produce maps of how much the great lakes basin has rebounded since the last ice age. I know what I want to do when I retire.
Wednesday, August 17th, 2022 – This sticker on Bob’s door explains the project.
Wednesday, August 17th, 2022 – Michelle loved this bumper sticker. The backstory is that Michelle’s Dad flew search and rescue helicopters while stationed out of CFB COMOX, with 442 squadron. Bob picked up the bumper sticker because he recognized the connection.
Thursday, August 18th, 2022 – It’s hard to get better than this. Walking down the beach over lunch on a Thursday. Taken on the way to Beach one looking east near the boardwalk.
Friday, August 19th, 2022 – Enjoying our pool for an evening swim.
Saturday, August 20th, 2022 – This was taken early on a Saturday. By afternoon the beach will be packaged today.
