The schools were closed due to an ice storm. \u00a0(I think our fourth day schools were closed from the start of the month).\u00a0 The picture below was taken from our front yard. You can see the ice on the driveway.\u00a0 Footing was even more treacherous and they were asking people to stay off the roads\u00a0so I didn&#8217;t venture out on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-149\" src=\"http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DSC00297-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"980\" height=\"735\" srcset=\"http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DSC00297-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DSC00297-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DSC00297-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DSC00297-210x158.jpg 210w, http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DSC00297-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DSC00297-1960x1470.jpg 1960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I realized there would be some days when\u00a0I couldn&#8217;t make it down the beach (such as when I was travelling for business or when there\u00a0is extreme weather) so\u00a0I decided I&#8217;d need to go twice some days to make up for the days I could not get down there.\u00a0 So my policy\u00a0was revised to\u00a0365 walks down the beach in 2017, but not necessary a walk every single day.<\/p>\n<p>We had some excitement due to the ice storm early morning on January 18th (Wednesday). I awoke a few times after midnight as our power was flickering off and on.<\/p>\n<p>When the power failed for the second time around 1:00 AM, in the dark of night I could see\u00a0what looked like reflections of\u00a0flames on the ice outside our front yard.\u00a0 I was convinced our house was on fire, so I\u00a0woke up Michelle and Jamie in a panic.<\/p>\n<p>Turned out the issue was a block south of us.\u00a0 A downed hydro wire was arcing on Sunnidale lighting up the sky just south of Wasaga Sands.\u00a0 I got there just as emergency vehicles were arriving.
