The hill is hard to see from this height. It snowed again overnight and the wind has not net scoured the beach down to the frozen sand.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The picture below was taken on my way back looking towards Collingwood. You can see the ski runs on Blue Mountain. \u00a0The large structure you see across the bay is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.town.collingwood.on.ca\/node\/483\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Collingwood Grain Terminal<\/a> built in 1929. \u00a0 The waves were particularly high Wednesday as you can see below.\u00a0 Even though it was cold, I decided it would be a bad idea to get out on the ice and try for\u00a0a better picture.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-188\" src=\"http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC00482-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"980\" height=\"735\" srcset=\"http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC00482-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC00482-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC00482-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC00482-210x158.jpg 210w, http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC00482-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC00482-1960x1470.jpg 1960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On Feburary 3rd I took a slightly different route, walking down to beach one and then walking north to the Nottawasaga River. \u00a0Below is a picture of the Nancy Island Historic Site, closed for the season. \u00a0You can read about Nancy Island <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wasagabeachpark.com\/Cultural-History\/War-of-1812-the-Nancy.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During the war of 1812, the British schooner Nancy was caught on Georgian Bay, and attacked by the Americans. \u00a0The ship tried to retreat up the Nottawasaga rover but was sunk. \u00a0The island actually formed around the hull of the ship. \u00a0We&#8217;re certainly going to get there this summer for a tour.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_227\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-227\" style=\"width: 700px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-227\" src=\"http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC00496-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC00496-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC00496-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/wasaga365.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC00496-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-227\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Site where the British Schooner Nancy was sunk fleeing up the Nottawasaga River during the War of 1812.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As much as I enjoy walking down the beach, I admit I&#8217;m getting tired of these strong, cold west winds. \u00a0Walking from beach 3 to beach was was easy, but coming back into the wind was brutal. \u00a0I had to walk backwards because my face kept getting dumb.
