Compared to last year, Spring is slow coming.<\/p>\n

I missed two days walking down the beach because conditions were too difficult. On Monday, I tried, but made it only a block. The snow was saturated with water. 16 centimeters of snow on top and 4 centimeters of slush and water. You get the picture. I stepped into a snow-covered gully and soaked my feet.<\/p>\n

I decided making it all the way to beach one wasn’t in the cards, so I retreated to Shore Lane (the street that runs parallel), walked as far as 13th street, and then packed it in and turned around.<\/p>\n

This is unsolicited but I need to plug Merrell footware –\u00a0https:\/\/www.merrell.com\/.\u00a0 It’s not Merrill’s fault I stepped into\u00a0 deep water in a running shoe. Amazingly, even after freezing my feet, I could still walk for another 30 minutes comfortably. I’m a fan of Merrell for sure. I suspect there is some science behind this. This is my go to winter walking shoe.<\/p>\n

The temperatures are not an issue this week. In fact, the colder the better most days. The challenge this week was warm temperatures, wet snow and too much water.<\/p>\n
