One of the\u00a0things about living in Southern Ontario is that we get these long periods where the temperatures hang in\u00a0the low single digits with overcast skies week after week. \u00a0 We’re in one of these slumps right now.<\/p>\n

March 26th: My only company was two cyclists I met near the boardwalk<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A couple of days this week I managed to get down to the beach twice – once during the day and again in the evening. \u00a0On the 27th it was foggy. \u00a0You couldn’t see much looking across the bay so I didn’t bother posting a picture.<\/p>\n

March 27th: The air was warm today but you could see bands of fog drifting in from the water. The fog was cold to walk through.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

March 28: A second walk to the beach in the evening from our place. Passing the dunes at the east end of Wasaga Sands near the Water Tower<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On the 29th I did my daily beach walk, but I decided to head out in the evening and walk down a tributary of the Nottawasaga River near our house. \u00a0The main part of the river is swollen this time of year and flowing pretty fast, but just a stream below. \u00a0I didn’t see any beavers, but lots of evidence they are active.<\/p>\n

March 29th: I feel like I’m on candid camera or being spoofed. Found this about 40 feet from the beaver dam. These must be some big beavers!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The picture below is pretty cool. \u00a0There was obviously some run-off that caused a steep bank to erode and collapse toward the river. \u00a0Note the tree down below that slid right down under the suspended fence.<\/p>\n

Now why would someone build a fence hanging up in the air like this? \ud83d\ude42<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

We got a winter storm on March 30th that really didn’t amount to much, but this is the same day as Mom and Dad were arriving back from Florida so we were watching the road conditions.<\/p>\n

March 30th: Just starting to snow in the evening. We got more snow overnight.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Mom joined me on March 31st in the early afternoon for my\u00a0daily walk down the beach. \u00a0She said this was a good reminder of why she and Dad go to Florida for the Winter!<\/p>\n

April 1st was a beautiful day with the sun shining brightly. \u00a0I’m not sure, but this might be the first seagull I’ve seen this year. \u00a0As sure sign that Spring is on the way.<\/p>\n

Looking across the bay. \u00a0We have open water in close to shore now but still layers of ice to on the lake. \u00a0You can see there is still snow on the ski hills at Blue Mountain below.<\/p>\n
