Merry Christmas, everyone! After some nasty weather and fresh snow, we’ve been enjoying unseasonably warm weather. This week marks the end of almost seven years of walking down the beach (almost) every day, six years of which I’ve documented on this website. It’s become such a habit that I hope I’ll be doing this for many more years!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday, December 25th, 2022 – On Christmas day, the wind was absolutely fierce, with gusts up to 100 km\/hour. This picture was taken just before our Christmas dinner. The trees were whipping around, and I was surprised that houses around beach 6 still had power. Sure enough, later that evening, my parent’s place and much of west Wasaga Beach (beach 6) were without power for a few hours. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Monday, December 26th, 2022 – Walking near Beach 2 on Boxing day. This part of beach 2 is where the town has been spreading the sand removed from Beach Drive. They’ve moved an enormous amount of sand. This last section of the transported sand was not graded, so there are warning markers – presumably to warn snowmobilers who have a way of “flying” down the beach this time of year.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday, December 27th, 2022 – It’s treacherous walking up to the ice berms because they are glare ice. I walked out on the limited amount of shore ice to take this picture of the open water.

Tuesday, December 27th, 2022 – Walking down a trail between 43rd street and the Recplex that gets little traffic, someone decorated a tree in the middle of nowhere. I thought this was cool. That’s what you call Christmas spirit!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday, December 28th, 2022 – Walking back to my truck at 18th street from near Beach one. The boardwalk is a little icy but mostly clear.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Thursday, December 29th, 2022 – This is the section of the beach where sand from Beach drive is being moved to. Looking east with Beach one about 500m in the distance.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Friday, December 30th, 2022 – “the big melt” – We reached around 5C today, and the snow is melting like crazy. This picture was taken just west of 13th street at one of the entrances to the beach.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
