After a wet and rainy Christmas in 2023<\/a>, seeing lots of snow for the Holidays was great. The week started with one of the coldest nights of the year. Historically, the probability of a white Christmas in Wasaga Beach has been 76%, but this figure is no doubt changing. It was nice to see people skating along the length of the beach following the cold snap. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday, December 22nd, 2024 – It was -20C walking down the beach on Sunday morning, but thankfully there was little wind. A film of ice formed far out from shore. The low clouds are common over open water during extremely cold temperatures as water vapor rapidly cools and condenses into ice crystals. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Sunday, December 22, 2024 – The ice on the near side of the ice berms was perfect for skating this morning, and the beach sand felt like walking on cement. Farther from shore, the telltale clouds show water vapor condensing over water that is not yet frozen.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Monday, December 23rd, 2024 – Walking along the beach heading east near 30th Street with the condos in the foreground. I exited the beach at 30th Street and continued on Shore Lane and Linda Lane because walking in the snow is tiring.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
