We had a wonderful Christmas this year. The weather made travel difficult at times, but thankfully, the roads were clear for our family get-together on December 27th. The rest of the week was challenging, however, with very high winds and steady snowfall that resulted in power failures, road closures, and travel warnings. We lost power the evening of December 29th during a major snowstorm and needed to spend 20 minutes digging out our generator shed before I could get the power back on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday, December 28th, 2025 – Looking west along the beach during my daily walk. It has snowed everyday this week.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Monday, December 29th, 2025 – There were multiple road closures, including Hwy 26, County Road 10, and Hwy 92 to Elmvale, but I still managed to get out for my daily walk. This picture was taken along Shore Lane just east of 30th street near Beach Area 4. The power failed on Monday evening and most of the beach was without power for several hours.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday, December 30th, 2025 – By Tuesday morning, power was back on, but high winds made travel difficult due to blowing snow. I snapped this picture of the power lines along Shore Lane. With Freezing Rain followed by blizzard conditions, it is no wonder power lines were down.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday, December 30th, 2025 – I took my mitts off just long enough to snap this picture at Beach Area 5. The wind was gusting to 70 km\/hr from the northwest, making for a nasty wind chill.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday, December 30th, 2025 – I like the new colour code warning system from Environment Canada. The orange warning was very appropriate. Several cars were in the ditch on County Road 10 between Wasaga and Highway 26 this morning due to whiteout conditions.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Frequent road closures across Wasaga Beach marked the period between Christmas and New Year’s. According to online sources, there have never been so many closed roads so early in the season. We’ve all had to learn to use Waze and ontario511.ca before traveling anywhere!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thursday, January 01, 2026 – It took me nearly 2 hours to clean our two driveways today, along Rigby Drive and Rose Court. It was briefly Sunny in the morning, and I took this picture looking north at 9:00 AM just as more snow was on its way from the northwest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
