The cover photo for this week’s post shows a beach entrance from Shore Lane just west of Beach Area 5. The snow drifts have been so high all winter that it hasn’t been possible to enter the beach along these trails without snowshoes. This week, things finally changed – the snow was frozen and firm enough that it was possible to walk across the top of the snow to the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n

Sunday, March 15th, 2026 – Walking down Shore Lane heading west, just west of 13th street near Beach area 3. We received more fresh snow overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monday, March 16th, 2026 – Looking North towards Beach area 5 from Linda Lane. The snowbanks are melting rapidly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday, March 17, 2026 – A picnic table perched on a hill overlooking Beach Area 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday, March 18th, 2026 – Snowdrifts are eclipsing the road and check-in and pay station at the entrance to the Beach Area 5 parking lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thursday, March 18th, 2026 – Looking towards the water from Beach area 6. There is still lots of shore ice with rocks and ice berms in the distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday, March 21st, 2026 – The ice is melting and mixing with the sand, making it tricky to walk down the beach without getting your feet wet!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
