We’ve had some cold daytime highs this week, and on Sunday, Feb 16th, we nearly reached -30C°, which is unusually cold for South Georgian Bay. The bay is frozen solid, and while I’ve been getting out every day, it is difficult to walk on the ice because the snow is too deep.

Sunday, February 16th, 2025 – Looking out across a frozen, snow-covered beach near 30th Street.
Monday, February 17th, 2025 – These are the bungalows @ 970 Shore Lane, west of Beach area 5. It’s hard to tell if there are cars buried under the snowdrifts. The large drift to the right of the picture is where the parking area is located.
Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 – For the first time in my 8+ years of walking down the beach every day, the road at Shore Lane was impassible. This picture was taken looking east along Shore Lane. The stop sign marks the intersection with 41st street.
Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 – I walked a block south and tried to walk east down Linda Lane instead. Linda Lane was not as bad, but it also had cars stuck in the middle of the road due to the snow drifts.
Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 – I made another attempt to get down Shore Lane late afternoon; by this time, the town had come by with heavy equipment. The road was passable, but as the picture shows, the cut through the drifts was only the width of the snowblower on the tractor. The highest drifts were approximately 9-10 high, with multiple drifts across the road.
Wednesday, February 19th, 2025 – After the snowfall, the sun was trying to sneak out as I took an evening walk towards 57th Street west of Beach area 6.
Thursday, February 20th, 2025 – Shore Lane was much improved from two days ago, with serious snow banks remaining from the snowfall earlier in the week.
Friday, February 21st, 2025 – Looking west at the intersection of Shore Lane and 45 Street on my way to 57th Street, my usual turnaround spot when I head to the west end of the beach.
Saturday, February 22nd, 2025—This picture was taken at 16th Street, looking west between Beach areas 2 and 3. The snow drifts were as bad at this end of the beach. Several of the stop signs were completely buried in snow drifts.
