This week we watched the shore ice slowly disappear. This was a gentle winter compared to years passed. We rarely say the bay fully frozen and I felt safe enough to walk out on the ice only a few times.
Sunday, March 14th, 2021 – looking west across the Bay towards Collingwood on a Sunday morning walk. Above freezing and the ice berms are still protecting the shore.
Saturday, March 20th, 2021 – Taken in the evening from near beach 6 looking towards the Collingwood terminals – the shore ice is all but gone from this end of the beach.
Saturday, March 20th, 2021 – Around noon the same day. Looking west from beach one across the boardwalk.
Saturday, March 20th, 2021 – Taking a shortcut at 13th street to get off the beach.
Saturday, March 20th, 2021 – taken in the evening at beach six near 50th street – lots of open water, but persistent shore ice.
