The waterfront will be undergoing a significant renovation this summer with construction starting in June. The Town of Wasaga Beach posted details of initial reconstruction plans on its website.

It will be exciting to see the beach get re-developed in the coming years. It is badly in need of a facelift. Construction is starting this summer with the demolition of buildings between 1st and 3rd street. Beach drive will be elevated and converted into a pedestrian mall.

A concept of the re-development plan for Beach area 1 is shown below.

Monday, May 23rd. The main beach is still covered with sand after record high water the past few years. This year there is a major renovation planned along the waterfront, so there are no plans to try and re-open the road.
Tuesday, May 24th – A dog walker off in the distance heading towards beach one. The fencing is still up from the Victoria day weekend. The fireworks were shot off from the fenced-in section of the beach.
Wednesday, May 25th, 2022 – Walking east from 57th street on my way to Beach 6. This section of the beach is riddled with boulders in random places.
Thursday, May 26th, 2022 – I took a different route back from beach 6 today and explored an east-west trail starting at 43rd street and connecting to the Recplex.
Friday, May 27th, 2022 – Walking east towards beach six in the evening. You can see must along the sand in the distance caused by cold air coming in from the bay and moving across the relatively warm beach sand.
Saturday, May 28th, 2022 – Taken looking west from the west end of the Beach area 2 boardwalk. Today we had a cool northwest wind causing mist across the sand in the distance. The beach is freshly graded which makes it a little tiring to walk on.
