This week marked the day after the engagement party for our son Jamie and his future bride Christina. It was also the Victoria Day weekend in Canada. Unfortunately, my beach walks were limited this week due to my kidney stone. 🙂

I can’t thank people at the Marine General Hospital enough. We hear a lot about wait times for healthcare in Ontario, but I arrived at the hospital at 9:00 AM. By noon, I’d seen several doctors, had blood tests, urine tests, and a CT scan. It was determined that I had a 7mm “blocking” stone in my left ureter. By 2:00 PM, I had minor surgery at RVH in Barrie to remove the stone. I almost feel guilty for having such excellent care. I went from severe pain to surgery and recovery in under 8 hours. 🙂

Sunday, May 17th, 2026 – By Sunday, the engagement party was over, and I was feeling pretty miserable with a kidney stone on my left side. I was hoping it would go away, but I was up all night with pain on Sunday / Monday AM, and by then I decided I needed to get into emergency.
Monday, May 18th, 2026 – After a visit to the emergency department at Collingwood Marine General Hospital, I had several tests, was given an IV, and was sent to the RVH hospital in Barrie the same day. I had excellent care, and as I write this, I’m fully recovered,
Wednesday, May 20th, 2026 – Unfortunately, we finally needed to pop the balloons from the engagement party.
Saturday, May 23rd, 2026 – After my kidney stone operation, it’s good to be back to my normal routine walking the beach and trails around Wasaga Beach.
