This week was made memorable by the fact that due to smoke from out of control forest fires in Northwetern Ontario, we had some of the worst air quality in the world in the province of Ontario on July 15th. This picture was taken during my daily walk. If Mars had a beach, I suspect this is what it would look like.

Always trying to be supportive, the President of the United States helpfully suggested once again that the Boreal forest was in need of a good raking, and that Tariffs may help alleviate the problem. Funny how global warming and fossil fuel emissions never comes up in his thoughtful Truth Social posts.

Sunday, July 12th, 2026 – On Saturday, my parents and I traveled up to a different part of Georgian Bay and visited my sister’s cottage on Deep Bay, near Parry Sound and Kilbear provincial park. I found it funny that Google Maps couldn’t get us there and we needed to revert to hand-drawn instructions.

Sunday, July 12th, 2026 – Barb and her family have their own piece of paradise at their beautiful cottage accessible only by water.

Monday, July 13th, 2026 – Back to my daily beach walks, this picture was taken looking towards the Beach at Beach Area 5.

Tuesday, July 14th, 2026 – A perfect day for enjoying the waves with warm water temperatures along the shallow beach areas.

Wednesday, July 15th, 2026 – I briefly considered wearing an N95 mask and then decided that one hour outside wouldn’t kill me.

Thursday, July 16th, 2026 – An empty parking lot near the waterfront at Beach Area 5.

Friday, July 17th, 2026 – Ontario Parks had booths setup at Beach Area 5 to celebrate “Free use day” – free entry to Provincial Parks. You can see the details here: https://blog.ontarioparks.ca/free-day-use/
