This year the Civic Holiday in Ontario fell on Monday August 3rd, our third major long weekend of the summer. I felt bad for people who had to deal with a rainy Sunday, but the beach was still packed despite the weather. Monday turned out to be a beauiful day. The featured picture for this post was taken entering the beach at 29 street between Beach areas 4 and 5 on Monday August 3rd.

Sunday, August 2nd, 2026 – Visitors huddling under tents and tarps to avoid the rain at Beach Area 5. People were still swimming and enjoying a swim despite the rain. Sometimes rainy days are even more memorable. One of the things I like best about walking down the beach in the summer is the smell of all the great food cooking on portable stoves.

Monday, August 3rd, 2026 – Thankfully it cleared up on Monday and turned into a beautiful day. This picture taken at Beach Area 5 with wind coming from the NNE generating whitecaps. The Blue Mountains and Collingwood are visible across the Nottawasaga Bay.

Tuesday, August 4th, 2026 – Often the parking lots in Beach area 5 are empty on weekdays, but this week there was steady traffic. It’s nice to see lots of visitors from out of province and even the United States enjoying the beach.

Wednesday, August 5th, 2026 – This picture taken near Beach Area 2. A cloud passed overhead just as I was taking the picture. The clouds were welcome because a south wind always translates into high temperatures.

Thursday, August 6th, 2026 – The area around Beach 5 was quiet today with most people concentrating around Beach Areas 1 and 2. This picture taken from the beach looking at the new pop-up store at Beach Area 5.

Friday, August 7th, 2026 – Walking down the road crossing the park area at Beach Area 5 over the lunch hour on Friday.

Saturday, August 8th, 2026 – This picture taken at Beach area 5 where you can see newly planted trees. In a few years these trees should be providing some welcome shade for visitors to the Park.
