Most of this week was above freezing, and the melt is in full swing. It’s nice to be able to walk down the beach again with firm footing. This week, we had temperatures above freezing during the day and below freezing at night – perfect for a gradual thaw that avoids flooding.

Sunday, March 9th, 2025 – The “ginormous” snow banks along Shore Lane west of Beach Area 5 have started to melt. The owners of this awesome home along Shore Lane had heavy equipment clear their driveway late last week.
Tuesday, March 11th, 2025 – This is the same property pictured above. The snowdrift is simply enormous.
Wednesday, March 12th, 2025—Despite the melt over the past week, the snow banks loom large. This picture was taken on Shore Lane, looking north just east of 16th Street.
Thursday, March 13th, 2025—Walking conditions along the beach are far from ideal, but the snow was firm enough that I was able to walk along the beach rather than on Shore Lane parallel to the beach.
Friday, March 14th, 2025 – An evening walk in the area of Beach 5. Looking west towards the setting sun.
