We started getting cold nights this week leading to some ice along the shore, but it melted quickly with days well above freezing.

Sunday, December 16th, 2018 – Looking across the bay NNE toward Woodland beach across the bay. There was enough ice forming the past few nights for the waves to pile it up on shore.
Sunday, December 16th, 2018 – A sand bar formed east of beach one. Lots of Canada Geese out on the water. If you look at  migration map for Canada Geese, we’re just north of their winter migration range. Canada Geese don’t head as far south as other species of bird, most head to central latitudes in the US. Their northernmost year-around range is around the north shore of Lake Ontario, so they don’t have much further to go on their way south.
Sunday, December 16th, 2018 – Dad took this picture of Mom and I. headed out to stand on the frozen sand dune and mom is in the foreground on shore with the geese in the background.
Monday, December 17th, 2018 – Slightly below freezing as I did my walk in the morning with strong north-west winds. Ski runs at Blue Mountain in the background toward the west.
Monday, December 17th, 2018 – Looking northeast across the beach. There is snow on the beach where it has not been washed away by waves. Not a lot of room to walk today without getting your feet wet or finding glare ice.
Wednesday, December 19th, 2018 – Today was awesome for walking down the beach. The beach had been coated with ice making it very slick, but it is melting. The band near shore was dry, free of ice and easy to walk on. This picture taken looking west down the beach.
Wednesday, December 19th, 2018 – The Canada Geese are still here.
Wednesday, December 19th, 2018 – A rare sunny day for this time of year. The snow on the boardwalk is melting leaving snow behind. This picture taken looking east from just west of beach one.
Friday, December 21st, 2018 – This picture taken near 16th street looking west.
Saturday, December 22nd, 2018 – Today never got above freezing so the beach was solid ice and snow all the way down. Car lights in the background are cars coming down Beach drive as I head towards Beach one.
Saturday, December 22nd, 2018 – Looking northwest across Georgian Bay from the beach exit and park just west of 13th street.
