For those wondering, I’m afraid the temperatures shown above for the past few weeks have not been accurate. It’s actually been quite a bit cooler.

I get usually get my weather data from Weather Underground. This site is community-based and relies on volunteers. Unfortunately, as weather stations go up and down, users like me get punted to the closest most reliable weather station. I can generally get a reliable history for Wasaga Beach or Collingwood, but our local observers have missed reporting data recently, so I’m now getting data from Markham (Buttonville Airport) as the most reliable continuous source of observations. Hopefully this will resolve itself soon.

I’m just geeky enough that I may need to setup my own weather station and try and be a reliable supplier of underground weather data for Wasaga Beach assuming I can keep this website going.

Sunday, May 26th, 2019 – East of 18th street – the waves have created an inlet here. In previous years there was 30 feet of beach from the grass to the shoreline, but this year the water level is so high there is no beach to walk on – I’ve helped create a trail through the grass.
Sunday, May 26th, 2019 – This picture shows how serious the high water is. No beach at all.
Wednesday, May 29th, 2019 – Getting the tent ready for Jamie’s camping trip after the Jean Vanier prom.
Thursday, May 30th, 2019 – Looking east from near 13th street
Thursday, May 30th, 2019 – near 13th street looking west – the ski hills (now free of snow) and Collingwood visible across the Nottawasaga Bay.
Saturday, June 1st, 2019 – Taken along the boardwalk just west of beach one – some of the posts from the volleyball nets are underwater this year.
