I think that this week shows that protecting beach drive from high water is a losing cause. Better to focus on protecting the businesses along the beach.
Sunday, November 17th, 2019 – Looking west across Nottawasaga Bay. The beach is frozen solid, but the water is still too warm to freeze except along the shore.
Sunday, N ovember 17th, 2019 – This picture doesn’t do the scene justice – there were Canada Geese as far as the eye could see today near beach 2.
Sunday, N ovember 17th, 2019 – I’ve posted pictures of beach one earlier. Shocking to see how the beach has overtaken the road with record high water on Georgian Bay.
Sunday, N ovember 17th, 2019 – Good thing the business owners along Beach Drive had the foresight to install sand bags. During a few Fall storms, the waves clearly got right up against the shops.
Sunday, N ovember 17th, 2019 – I took a second walk in the evening – the water in a low area of the beach is gone leaving frozen ice – looking NE from east of Beach One.
Monday, November 18th, 2019 – A rainy day. I was soaked by the time I got back to my truck.
Tuesday, November 19th, 2019 – Beach One looking east. The waves have made a mess of Beach Drive. very sad.
Thursday, November 21st, 2019 – Looking east across Wasaga Beach near 13th street.
Thursday, November 21st, 2019 – it was slightly above freezing and this brave soul was in the water at Beach One. Apparently looking for something.
Friday, November 22nd, 2019 – A windy day – looking west towards the Blue Mountains from Wasaga Beach
Friday, November 22nd, 2019 – The combination of high water and strong winds has make the beach tough to walk across. I made it but got a soaker just east of this spot.
Friday, November 22nd, 2019 – This is the highest I’ve seen the waves reach during my daily walks – this is normally one of the widest sections of the beach west of 13th street and today the waves were reaching all the way to the breakwaters. (During overnight storms, the waves have been higher as evidenced by all the damage long the shore this year)
Saturday, November 23rd, 2019 – A bright sunny day for a change – looking east across a newly refurbished section of boardwalk on my way to Beach one.
