The beach officially re-opened effective June 11th, but we didn’t see a lot of visitors – perhaps because there was still confusion apart whether businesses and public washrooms would be open.
Sunday, June 7th, 2020 – Taken from the park 13th street looking west across the bay.
Monday, June 8th, 2020 – taken at the green space near 13th street just east of the end of Shore Lane.
Monday, June 8th, 2020 – Looking towards Georgian Bay from one of the natural entries to the water from the green space at 13th street.
Tuesday, June 9th, 2020 – taken at the the far east end of Wasaga Beach – close to the outlet of the Nottawasaga River.
Wednesday, June 10th, 2020 – Storm clouds on the way. This picture taken while I was walking east from 18th street street to beach one and back in the evening. I realized I was in a race to beat the rain.
Wednesday, June 10th, 2020 – Taken the same evening on my way back from beach one near 16th street just as the wind was dramatically shifting direction.
Wednesday, June 10th, 2020 – Taken just as the rain started to fall – luckily I was close enough to run back to my truck at 18th street without getting too wet.
Thursday, June 11th, 2020 – This picture shows how devastating the high waters are. Normally the street lights are along a sidewalk, and the beach starts to the left of the sign. From the sign there should be ~60 feet to the water. This year the roadway is intentionally buried under two feet of sand and a retaining wall was constructed to protect the structures along beach one.
Thursday, June 11th, 2020 – Looking west across the boardwalk
Saturday, June 13th, 2020 – The beach is open again. I took a morning walk. The Sun rising in the east was still low, putting the beach in shadow. Walking towards beach one.
Saturday, June 13th, 2020 – Parts of the beach are still difficult to pass with the water so high. Looking west across the beach near 16th street
