Today was a memorable day. My younger son Jamie turned 20 years old. We had a wonderful celebration for Jamie. His grandmother flew in from Cape Breton for the occasion. The car rally was wrapping up Sunday morning. Things were quiet. Apparently all the rowdy folks had been arrested Friday and Saturday! 🙂
News coverage of the event is here – 70 vehicles towed, 383 charges laid following unsanctioned car rally in Wasaga Beach – Barrie | Globalnews.ca
Sunday, September 26th, 2021 – You would never know that the beach was insane this weekend – a peaceful scene with the sun rising over Muskoka chairs just west of 13th street.
Sunday, September 26th, 2021 – Apparently the seagulls were also unaffected by the car rally.
Monday, September 27th, 2021 – This picture taken looking west near beach 6 after a heavy rainfall. Private vehicles are not allowed on the beach. These tire tracks are from a truck operated by the provincial park.
Monday, September 27th, 2021 – I managed to get up close to a Turkey vulture. Usually I only see these birds from afar. They are large birds with a six foot wingspan. You can learn more about Turkey Vultures here – https://birdwatchinghq.com/vultures-in-ontario/
Tuesday, September 28th – It’s kind of bizarre to have the beach almost to myself again after the summer crowds. This picture taken looking towards Beach one from the Beach 2 board walk during my daily late morning trek.
Wednesday, September 29th, 2021 – They are still grading the beach late in the season. The walk was a little more crisp this morning with whitecaps on Georgian Bay.
Thursday, September 30th, 2021 – You never see Turkey Vultures up close in the summer. With the beach being quiet they are making an appearance.
Friday, October 1st, 2021 – I see these folks bicycling most days. They cycle all the way from beach 6 to beach 1 and back. I though this was an interesting picture taken at beach 3. They decided to cycle along one of the “dunes” that surfaced offshore.
Saturday, October 2nd, 2021 – Your tax dollars at work – even in October, the beach is being graded every weekend,
