The new year began with a brief warm-up and periods of high winds, but by the end of the week, temperatures were back to seasonable levels.

Monday, December 30th, 2024—With high winds from the northwest, the waves quickly eroded the ice along the shore. At this time of year, the water temperature in Georgian Bay ranges between 0° and 2° C.
Tuesday, December 31st, 2024 – The ice people were skating on last week is nothing but shards piled up along the shore. In the distance, you can see the ski runs open at Blue Mountain.
Wednesday, January 1st, 2025 – The beach is clear of ice and snow and easy to walk on. Taken at 30th street on a very windy New Year’s day.
Wednesday, January 1st, 2025 – The waves were coming all the way up the beach, making it difficult to walk without getting your feet walk.
Thursday, January 2nd, 2025: This picture was taken near 18th Street, looking south from Shore Lane, following another overnight cold snap.
Thursday, January 2nd, 2025 – To get away from the cold and high winds, I followed this trail to get off the beach to the relative calm of Shore Lane just west of 13th street.
