This week we saw more seasonable temperatures and the ice along the shore has frozen. We need overnight temperatures in the minus teens on a sustained basis to freeze the bay.
Sunday, January 14th, 2023 – Heavy snow during my daily walk around the noon-hour. This picture taken near Beach area 5.
Monday, January 15th, 2024 – Re-entering the beach at 28th street.
Tuesday, January 16, 2024 – It’s hard to walk down snowmobile trails when the snow is not packed.
Wednesday, January 17th, 2024 – We just can’t seem to get a sunny day. I just heard on a Toronto radio station that we have not had a sunny weekend in Southern Ontario since November. Sounds about right.
Thursday, January 18th – We are getting the usual pattern of berms out on the ice, but they are less pronounced than previous years owing to the warm temperatures. Warm winters with open water may be the new normal.
Friday, January 19th, 2024 – On my way back to the Recplex on Shore Lane after a walk down beaches five and six.
Saturday, January 20th, 2024 – Things felt a little more seasonable on Saturday morning walk east along the beach.
